Lot Details
including Richie Richardson, Courtney Walsh, Jimmy Adams, Brian Lara, Curtly Ambrose, Michael Atherton, Alec Stewart, Graham Thorpe. A historically significant series, as it marked the end of England's long losing streak against the West Indies. West Indies toured England from 13 May to 3 September 1995, playing six Tests plus three ODIs, under captain Richie Richardson. The Test series finished drawn 2–2 — England's best result against West Indies in over a decade — while England won the ODI series 2–1. Brian Lara was the standout with 765 runs and was named Player of the Series jointly with England captain Mike Atherton (488 runs). Ian Bishop took the most wickets with 27.This series is generally regarded as the moment English cricket began to close the gap on West Indies after years of one-sided ‘blackwash’ defeats — the 2-2 draw, achieved despite West Indies still possessing genuine match-winners in Lara, Ambrose and Walsh, was seen at the time as a significant psychological turning point for Atherton's England side, even though full parity/dominance wouldn't arrive for England until years later.
