Lot Details
Including: Clive Lloyd, Deryck Murray, Malcolm Marshall, Faoud Bacchus. The West Indies toured England for virtually the whole 1980 season, from 8 May to 14 August, captained by Clive Lloyd against England's Ian Botham Test series: West Indies won the five-match series 1–0, though it was largely ruined by rain — they took the first Test, and the remaining four were all drawn due to weather. The opener at Nottingham was a nail-biter: West Indies chased down 208 to win by just 2 wickets, with Andy Roberts named Player of the Match for figures of 5/72 and 3/57. ODI series: the two-match series finished tied 1–1. West Indies took the first at Leeds, then England hit back to win the second at Lord's by 3 wickets with 3 balls remaining It's remembered as one of the great West Indies sides at the start of their dominant era — the beginning of a run of Caribbean supremacy over England that would harden further in the return series in the Caribbean the following year, which West Indies won 2–0.
