Lot Details
Including: Gregg Chappell, Kim Hughes, Allan Border, Mike Gatting. David Gower, Ray Bright, Graham Yallop. The Lord's Centenary Test, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the first Test match played in England (at The Oval in 1880). This was the second of two Centenary Tests — the first had been played in Melbourne in 1977, marking the very first Test ever played (1877). Graeme Wood (112) and Kim Hughes (117) both scored centuries for Australia in their first innings, which reached 385 for 5 declared on the third day, after being interrupted by rain on days one and two. Geoff Boycott's second-innings century was his sixth against Australia and nineteenth in Tests overall and helped England play out the draw safely rather than chase the target. Bill Athey made his Test debut in this match for England.
