Including: Lyn Larson, Lyn Fullston, Denise Emerson, Karen Brown, Jan Britton, Pip Vyvyan, Jackie Court England toured Australia between 7 December 1984 and 3 February 1985, contesting the Women's Ashes for the ninth time. Australia won the five-match Test series 2-1, reclaiming the Ashes for the first time since 1963, a genuinely significant result in the history of the women's game. Australia also won the accompanying three-match ODI series 3-0. Significantly, this result meant it would take more than 20 years before England recorded another Test win against Australia — underlining just how important this series turned out to be for the balance of power in the women's game going forward. In the fifth test and decider Australian captain Raelee Thompson, playing her last season for the national team, took 5/33 on the very first day of play, a spell that set up a seven-wicket win and secured the 2-1 series victory for Australia. Denise Emerson (Australia) was the series' leading run-scorer with 453 runs - a key performer with the bat throughout the tour.
