Pattern 1827 Naval Officers Sword 30 ½" etched blade with some staining at the tip. Ricasso marked B. Adams – Plymouth. Most of original gilt remains on pommel and guard. Excellent wire bound sharkskin grip. Leather and brass scabbard in very good condition. With associated full dress bicorn hat (inside marked 'B Adams Tailor 11, George Place. Plymouth', contained in its original tin case with a brass name plate engraved 'Commdr. F. deV. Sanders Rl. Navy'. And with sword belt. In excellent condition. Provenance: Carswell 7/11/2013 Notes: Proof mark appears to indicate sword was made by Francis Thurkle of London (traded from 1766–1920), then marketed by B. Adams 1870, Naval Outfitters. Broad St., Portsmouth & Plymouth (died Chorlton Feb 1887).
