Including: Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, Saleem Jaffar, Ijaz Ahmed, Mike Gatting, David Gower, Bill Athey This was an historic series that Pakistan won for the first time ever in England. On this tour, Pakistan won a Test series against England in England for the first time in history. This 1987 side was, in Imran Khan's own words, ‘baptised in India under fire’ — having just come off a tough tour there — ‘and with a much younger side we beat a strong England side fresh from their Ashes win.’ After this tour, Pakistan didn't lose another series in England until 2006 — nearly two decades later. Imran Khan starred with bat and ball as did Javed Miandad scoring 260 in the first test. Miandad batted for a marathon ten hours and seventeen minutes and faced 521 balls. In the fifth test Khan declared it would be his last test and went on to register his first century against England in quick time. Famously Mike Gatting and Ian Botham staged a stoic rearguard on the final day, batting together for four and a quarter hours to save the match for England.
