Robert James Cowens (26 August 1895 - 7 October 1984) Lyttleton. WW1 15499 L/Cpl Canty Infantry Reg 15th Reinforcements C-Coy. Lot comprises: (i) WW1 British War Medal and Victory Medal. (ii) 15th Reinforcements C-Coy cap badge. Photographic postcard Cowens and C-Coy at Featherston; (iii) Coronation Studios ChCh photographic postcard of Cowens in uniform; Photographic postcard from Durban to Cowens' mother and Photograph of mounted troops (unknown/no inscription). (iv) NZEF Leave on Discharge Certificate and Certificate of Discharge. Enlisted 5 April 1916, Wounded in Action, France 29 August 1918, Discharged 26 June 1919. His brother Pvt Thomas William Cowens 6/2665 was KIA 16 Sept 1916 Somme. Includes: AWWM printout and NZ Archives printout. Provenance: Laurie Osborne Collection
