Lot Details

Lot comprises: 1914-15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal Enlisted 3 Dec 1915 Lapraik was aged 51. Discharged 10 Oct 1916. He was an Authorised Attesting Officer in 1918. 1921 correspondence details him seeking help for 'Neurasthenia' (nervous exhaustion) and in letters he stated he was the "oldest medical officer in the fighting line"... that he volunteered for a Hospital Ship, but ended up with the Brigade Artillery on Active Service in Egypt and France. Other letters circa 1928 cover un/underpaid work for the DoD and during the influenza epidemic and requested some compensation. T.W.Rhodes MP wrote on his behalf recognising his strong moral claim.
